Here his biography, track record, comparison with Eddie Hall and the most important milestones of his career. <\/p>\n\n<p>Haf\u00fe\u00f3r J\u00fal\u00edus Bj\u00f6rnsson, known worldwide as &#8220;The Mountain&#8221; (for his role in Game of Thrones), is one of the most dominant strongman in history.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Beyond his television fame, his track record in strength sports has been historic. In September 2025, Bj\u00f6rnsson set a new world deadweight record by deadlifting 510 kg, surpassing his own previous marks. But this achievement only makes sense if we frame it in the context of his biography, his physique, his early career, and the historic rivalry with Eddie Hall.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Personal data: height, weight, origins<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Born November 26, 1988 in Reykjav\u00edk, Iceland.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It measures 2.05 m (\u2248 6 ft 9 in.).  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His weight varies depending on the discipline: in strongman he is around 180-210 kg, in boxing he dropped to around 140-152 kg when he competed.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Early years of sports: basketball and transition to strongman<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prior to his strength competitions, Haf\u00fe\u00f3r was a basketball player. He played center, in several teams in the Icelandic league: Brei\u00f0ablik, FSu Selfoss, KR Basket Reykjav\u00edk, etc.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He was about 18-20 years old when he suffered an ankle injury that cut short that career.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He later met Icelandic strongman Magn\u00fas Ver Magn\u00fasson, who introduced him to the world of strongman. In 2022, Bj\u00f6rnsson and Eddie Hall met in a boxing match known as The Heaviest Boxing Match in History, which Bj\u00f6rnsson won by unanimous decision.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After a period of reduced activity or partial retirement (especially after 2020-2021), Bj\u00f6rnsson returned to strongman in early 2024.
